Brand website for Japanese Oldest Perfumer

Challenge
Kungyokudō, established in 1594, during the Azuchi-Momoyama period, is the oldest incense supplier in Japan. With the brand's reconstruction, there was a need for communication strategies to establish recognition as a fragrance brand that, while inheriting over 420 years of history and tradition as an incense house, stays close to the evolving times and lifestyles.
Solution
We were in charge of the online brand design through the website. Starting with executive interviews, we conducted inspections of the traditional Japanese rooms used for fragrance-smelling experiences and various incense materials, such as submerged incense woods, to truly experience the brand's history and dignity. We managed the design direction of the brand website using photographs that capture the ambiance of Kundodō and designs with beautiful whitespace, allowing visitors to sense the tradition and elegance.
While keeping the tradition as a long-established incense company in Kyoto, we will keep proposing the new concept of the scent which will fit well in the present lifestyle.
